The foto's were gery good too, one of them reminded me of what my late mongrel Terrier looked like, his name was "dog or sweety", which my little sister named him. He came to our door and would not go away, so we adopted him. He was a loyal loving dog, and even followed me dowm to the pub one night without me knowing, and waited for me (3 hrs) outside the pub (would a human do that for you)!!! Anyway, Galway play Kilkenny in the simi final in the hurling this Sunday 21-8-05 in Croke Park. I hope Galway win, so cheers for Galway. Bye Patrick.

Wrote... We recently bought a Jack Russell puppy (called Archie) and discovered he was blind. A specialist eye centre told us his eyes have not developed fully and theres nothing that can be done. He is nethertheless happy and copes well. Even after a week he knows the layout of the house and has quickly adapted to the garden. We cannot take him for walks yet as he still awaits his second booster jab, but being a puppy does tend to get excited and often collides with furniture and walls etc. I think the Hoops a great idea and would certainly like to purchase one when available. Also, since discovering Archie's blindness we have met other people with blind dogs through our local vets (I'm sure they would also be interested in the Hoop). I hope and trust your family crisis is soon resolved. Thanks for a great site.

Wrote... I have an 11yr old Pomeranian that within the last two months has had a collapsed trechia and heart problems. Also she has lost her sight. All within two months. She is like a child to us. I bougth Kacee when she was 5months and have taken her everywhere with me over the past 11 yrs, even work. So many people love her! I am looking for a device, such as yours to prevent her from bumping into things. She is having a hard time "remembering" where the doors are and the coffee table. I bought her a soft sided carrier so that I can carry her, more comfortably, where ever we go. I feel so bad as she is constantly banging her little head on objects. I see on your website that you are not producing the hoops at this time. Do you know of any other devices that are available for purchase or can you send me information on suggestions of materials for creating a hoop? Wrote... Hi, I am so glad I found your article on line! We have a 3? year old JR who we rescued from a shelter. He was returned 2X by others due to his aggression towards cats. We had a cat at the time who lived in our basement and not the house so we took "Timmy" home. We adopted him in July of 2002 when he was 1 year old-estimate. He is a long legged JR and was so happy to be with us. About 1 1/2 yrs ago an incident ocurred when my teenage son started yelling and screaming about something, Timmy went after him viciously. I grabbed him and he turned and bit me, HARD! That was the beginning of several instances. It now seems to be random. When he is sleeping and someone shoos him off the bed he will growl. In November I was looking at his nails to prepare to clip them and he attacked me, biting me several times. Last night he bit my 9 yr old son while he was petting him. He was sitting between my husband and son and seem to bite for NO reason. He has now bitten all of us and we want to know what this dog is telling us. I am at the end of my rope. I can't have a dog that bites us. I do know this dog needs more excercise. I have been taking him on a very focused walk every morning for a 1/2 hour and he takes several more walks throughout the day. We live on a large piece of property with some goats and my wish was that he could run free for most of the day. Well, he attacked our goats and would have killed one if I did not pry him off. He cannot run free so he needs to be on a leash when walked. We live in Middle Tennessee and need some help. I don't want to turn him into JR Rescue because he will become someone else's problem. We love him and want to see what we can do to help. We also have a 4 month old Border Collie. Together they have fun and he is not aggressive with the puppy. What is up with this nut of a dog? Wrote... My 11 year old lab has lost her battle with glaucoma. She had her right eye removed 2years ago as a result of glaucoma, now this disease has claimed her other eye. We haven't decided whether to have the eye removed or have it injected to stop the production of the fluid (we didn't know this was an option when dealing with her first eye). As in other cases we've read about this is has been extremely difficult for all of our family, especially in light of the confusion and sadness that our sweet Callie is now experincing. Wrote... I have an 11 year old Schauzer (male) that went totally blind over night on 11/17/03. He remained blind totaly blind for about 5 months. My vet recommended raw carrot as a treat to keep him from gaining to much weight. My Husband and I started to notice that he could see a little. He now gets around the house and yard great. We have even moved our furniture around and he has no problems at all. I don't know if it was all the praying that we did, the carrots or both. He has been recovering really well and i have been walking him in the fields for 30 to 45 minutes a day, which he thoroughly enjoys and so do i.But unfortunatly this morning (6th December 04) he seems to have done something to his other back Knee, he yealp with pain and has found it difficult to put down. Wrote... A suggestion for you... When our female was spayed she also had her front dewclaws removed. She was expected to wear an Elizabethan collar (cowl) for 10 days afterwards to prevent her from worrying at her front paws. She was greatly distressed by the collar, not least because it restricted her vision and mobility. This not only seemed unnecessarily cruel but was very upsetting for us to witness. We sought an alternative solution and found one. A collar called “Bite Not”. It’s made of flexible plastic and foam, and works by restricting the dog’s neck movements in the same way as the collar a person might use for cervical support. It prevents licking and scratching at stitches, but apart from that, has relatively little impact. In fact, as soon as the collar was fitted, our dog was back to her old self. The “Bite Not” collar is so much kinder than the archaic lampshade. I can’t recommend it highly enough. To see the collar visit www.bitenot.com Your veterinary surgery can order one for you if it doesn’t already have them in stock. If you don’t want to buy one, ask whether the surgery would consider getting some, and then hire one to you for the duration of the recovery period. Wrote... I need some fast advise on what to do with my 4 year old male Shih Tsu, I am just about ready to give him away. I am in tears cause I love him so much but I am actually so scared of him. I got him when he was 6 weeks old. When he was 4 months old he bit me in the mouth but I took the blame for it cause I was teasing him wanting him to give me a kiss while feeding him a few treats, When he was 2 years old he bit me again in the mouth cause I was combing his hair and I accidently pulled a hair on his tummy, I also took the blame for that, He was sleeping in the bed with me and I accidently touched him in my sleep and he bit me again in the mouth which I took the blame for that too. He is always growling at me and his mouth starts to quiver like he is going to charge at me no matter what I am doing--even if I am just petting him, loving him or what ever, the only time he doesn't growl at me is when I am bathing and grooming him, he is so good just a little saint. I am not mean to him but every time he bit me I did wack him in the mouth a few times. I also have another Shih Tsu, female, 8 years old, very calm and minds her own business but Shotsie just charges at her for no reason at all and is always attacking her. I love them so much but I can't take this anymore. What should I do, should I find a good home for him? Please respond. Thanks Hugs mikki

Today we learned that our 7 year old Jack Russell, Rolo,is completely blind due to bi-lateral primary lens luxation - finding your site has reassured me that he can still have fun and live a good life. We love him to bits and he has always been such a happy little lad even though he is deaf as well! Wrote... Hi Pepe and Bruce & Dave; Just wanted to say hello and send best wishes to you and your clan. I am reflecting on my dear Rose who passed away one year ago today (Jan 30, 2002). Rose wore Pepe's vest, "The Rose Vest" with pride and in the process improved her quality of life, confidence in walking and running and playing and educated many people about blind dogs. Pepe's vest was a Godsend and it was an attractive, cool garment. I miss my Rose; I have another beautiful, sweet baby, "Jane Olive" and I love her too. Rose was my first dog and she taught me so much. I grateful for all the time we had (11 years, 2 months) and I am also grateful to all the kind folks on blinddogs.com, Caroline Levin and especially Pepe and Dave for making Rose a beautiful vest. xox
