About the time we started giving all three of our dogs Sentinal instead of Heartguard we began to notice that Arthur was bumping into things on his left, we carried him to the vet who comfirmed that he could not see good out of his left eye, but could find no reason for it. Over the last four months he has completely lost his eye sight. We consulted another vet who also said that there was no reason that she could find for his blindness, just take him home and love him, that dogs rely on smell more than eyesight.

We have hardwood floors in our home and since he has lost his sight he finds it difficult to balance on the slippery floors, noticing that he went carefully from rug to rug, we went to a carpet store and bought large carpet scraps and made paths through the house. This has worked really well and now Arthur goes all over the house and has even learned again how to use his doggie door to let himself outside. He now has his little path in the back yard that he follows {and only get's confused if something scares him and usually Sparkle or Tres-Seay will go to his rescue} it is truly amazing.

He waits for us to put his harness and leash on if we open the door that leads to the front, he knows that is unfamiliar territory. Arthur still likes to go riding in the car but doesn't try to look out the window any more. As you can see from his pictures you cannot tell by looking at his eyes that he is blind. When I talk to him he still looks up at me and all I see is the love. King Arthur will be with us for as long as he lives, with or without sight. We are going to take him to a couple of more vets and see if they have any suggestions. I still think that it has something to do with the Sentinal but will never be sure. {I have written the company to see if they have any other reports of this happening, but they haven't answered my letter}. Oh yes, by the way , his brother {that a friend of mine ownes} is fine and they have refused to put their Pom on any chemicals.

My Laddie

This is Laddie, a Cocker I owned as I was very young. He was also blind and followed me everywhere. He never acted blind at all.
